French Space Weather Initiatives
Working Group on Space Weather: In January 1998 the director General of CNES, Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales set up a working group on "Space Weather", with individuals coming from the scientific community, CERT-ONERA, and CNES. The purpose of this working group was to establish the need for new initiatives to meet specific European requirements for independent information on "Space Weather" forecast and restitution. Four principle subjects were thought key areas for an independent capability in Europe:
