Czech Republic Space Weather Initiatives

• The Astronomical Institute ASCR, Ondrejov,  where the work can be divided into three parts:
  • Ground-based solar optical and radio observations (solar activity monitoring and forecasting are conducted daily at the Ondrejov Observatory).
  • Numerical modelling.
  • Space research.
  
  
  
• The Geophysical Institut, Prague, where the research is divided into three fields:
  • Forecasts of geomagnetic activity based on terrestrial and satellite data.
  • Solar activity and the orbit of the center of the Sun around the center of mass of the solar system.
  • Ionospheric studies.
  
  
  
• The Institute of the Atmospheric Physics, Prague, where the work is associated with:
  • MAGION 4 and MAGION 5 satellites.
  • Effects of geomagnetic storms.
  
  
  
• The Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University, Prague, where the research is:
  • The interaction of the solar wind with the Earth's magnetic field with emphasis placed on the penetration of the solar wind plasma into the magnetosphere abd the formation and motion of the magnetospheric boundaries.
